			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11/27/nfc_underground/">The Register reports that O<sub>2</sub>, Nokia and Transport for London are starting a trial of a technology which lets you use your mobile phone as an Oyster card</a>.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s based on a new Nokia handset, the &#8216;6131-NFC&#8217;, which has a specific new kind of wireless technology built in. So you&#8217;ll need to buy a new handset for it. There are also issues with &#8220;the logistics of managing tickets within the phone interface, and the security of the system&#8221;. The handset actually has a special &#8220;secure memory module&#8221; to store the ticket information.</p>
<p>Impressive collaboration. And technology.</p>
